My name is Patricia Fiorino and I am a locol artist and also a teacher with OCSB. I have been teaching elementary and high school students for 23 years. As a passionate artist and teacher, I have always integrated art into education. Six of my teaching years were spent working as the elementary art consultant, supporting art implementation across OCSB schools. I currently work with McHugh School at CHEO and use art as a means to promote mental health, well-being, and self-regulation.
I have always been passionate about art and creativity and can’t think of a time that art, (music, theater, and visual arts), has not been part of my life. In the last 15 years I started to make visual art a personal focus, rather than a teacher focus, and haven’t looked back as an artist since.
It is important to me that my artistic process allows me to play, find joy, heal and discover. In my current works I use alcohol ink, gypsum-based paste, and acrylic paint to play with texture, form, proportion, and color. As a child growing up in Scotland I was always drawn to the beauty of flowers. I loved the movement and color of wild flowers and I remember the joy of making wildflower crowns. They also helped me heal while experiencing trauma in my childhood. Today, whether it is nurturing flowers in my garden, or creating flowers in my art, I am brought back to that childhood sense of joy, wonder and peace. This show is a representation of the power of art to heal, give voice, and the fun of creative play.
A contemporary landscape painter, carol Westcott depicts natural and built environments. Her images are formed from the memories, fragments of experience and influence of her early life in Eastern Ontario. Working in acrylic and mixed media, she interprets the landscape, often in a slightly abstracted form.
In speaking of her own work, Westcott states: “My work is inspired by the natural environment. Growing up in rural Ontario gave me an early appreciation for the land and its vagaries so, from a very young age, I was inspired by the landscape that I now present in my images.”
Westcott has exhibited her award-winning work in many solo shows and group exhibitions across Canada and Internationally. Her work is represented in corporate, public and private collections and is collected internationally. Several of her paintings have been purchased by the Government of Ontario Art Collection.
A Fine Art Photographer, is currently residing in Manotick, Ontario
She began creating her collection of photographs entitled, “Light Illusions”, early in 2009.
The idea originated from a personal discovery of how fascinatingly light alters the everyday appearance of an object, making it somehow magical. The result of this moment has led to many abstract compositions which allow the eye to see what it wants to see.

Born in Ottawa, Ontario Canada in 1985, three consistent aspects of Evan’s life have been his passion for art, competition in athletics and desire to incorporate both ideals as a teacher through education. As a teacher, Evan’s passion to balance both artistic endeavours and encourage an active lifestyle through sports has been a prevalent theme.
Evan received a Bachelor of Visual Arts with a focus in painting and a minor in Physical Education from Castleton University, Vermont. Evan was recruited to play hockey at Castleton in the competitive ECAC Division, NCAA III. Having played hockey for 4 years, he graduated Cum Lauda and was awarded the Academic Achievement Award by the Visual Arts Department, their highest award granted.
Upon graduating, Evan continued his hockey career in semi-professional leagues throughout the United States. Injuries have taken their toll, Evan retired from competitive hockey and immediately was accepted into Queen’s University’s Teacher Certification program in Art and Physical Education programs in 2012. Since graduating, Evan has become a teacher in Ottawa and most recently received his Honours Specialist in Visual Arts through Western University. Evan is now focusing his energy on teaching and further developing his passion for the creation of art.
Evan has been drawn to graphic designs, colourful imagery and surrealistic storylines from a young age, making comic books a perfect vehicle for a creative imagination as a child. Many of Evan’s paintings draw inspiration from these early childhood memories. Much of his work communicates ambiguity and wonder to audiences, combining multiple painting techniques to express colourful and whimsical scenes.
A sequence in Evan’s painting process dictates much of the outcome of the art. Fostering play by mixing media such as spray paint and oil paints, reveals visions and sparks inspiration, continuing the painting journey. Evan’s final artworks look to give audiences creative licence to say what is happening, allowing personal narratives with each painting. So while viewing Evan’s art, let your imagination run wild and have fantasy take you to another domain while creating your own storylines.
“I try to communicate the spirit of a place in my work. Colour, mood and atmosphere are very important to me.”
Penny Heath-Eves is a Canadian artist living on the Ottawa River. She grew up in southern Ontario, and spent many years in British Columbia and Alberta, before returning to live in the Ottawa area in 2004. She works primarily in oil, but also in acrylic, watercolour and mixed media. These oil landscapes and still lifes, some
with figures, all have their origin in the Ottawa Valley, with its flat planes of farmland, forest, rock, the Ottawa
River and Gatineau Hills. Some are Plein air sketches, while others were painted from studies, sketches and memory.
I love nature and it brings great joy to be able to express that love on canvas as landscapes gardens, flowers, animals and birds.
“My intention is to speak to the viewer of the life and beauty of creation”
I was born in Bermuda, later moving to the scenic landscapes of Moncton, New Brunswick.
As a young child, I was motivated to sketch, which later blossomed into an artistic career.
Upon graduating in 1988 from the Graphic Design program at Algonquin College in Ottawa I worked in the Art department of a Design firm, creating logos and doing graphics.
Then, the painting of commissioned portraits further helped to develop my career.
I was represented by Koyman’s Gallery in Ottawa where 25 of my paintings were sold.
One painting entitled “Market flowers” was published in the International Artists publication “One hundred ways to paints flowers and gardens”
Venues: Art in the Park, International Tulip Festival, (Ottawa). Art Square Gallery (Toronto), Skylark Gallery & D-Fine Arts (Bolton), Heron Bay Gallery ( New Brunswick), Kleinburg Art Walk.
